4 Tips for Finding the Right Dentist

Finding the right dentist includes looking at their location, their services, reading reviews, and relying on your instincts.

4 Tips for Finding the Right Dentist

Finding the right dentist doesn’t need to be difficult, but it shouldn’t be a snap decision either. First, you need a dentist within a convenient distance of your home or office. They also need to offer the services you’re looking for and accept your insurance. But the most important thing is finding a dentist you can trust.

1: Search by Location

Choosing a dentist close to home or work makes it easier to keep your appointments. Location can be especially important if you don’t drive and you rely on public transportation or ride shares to get to your appointments.

2: Check Out a Few Websites

Some dental offices only provide basic services like cleanings, exams, and fillings. Other services, like whitening treatments, Invisalign, or dental implants might not be available. If you are looking for something specific, be sure to check the website for a list of services or give them a call to confirm.

If you have dental insurance, you’ll also want to make sure they’re in-network and able to accept your coverage.

3: Read the Reviews

Reading other people’s opinions can really help when you’re looking for a dentist. Sometimes the reviews of a dental practice can be very revealing. But there are a few key things to remember as you’re going through the reviews.

Always take bad reviews with a grain of salt. There are two sides to every story, and the truth is usually somewhere in the middle. Humans make mistakes, and while we always strive for perfection it’s not always possible. On that note, you need to be wary of practices with ONLY good reviews, because they might not all be true. Instead, look for a dentist that has a mixture of reviews leaning mostly toward good.

4: Trust Your Intuition

First impressions matter! Sometimes the most convenient dentist isn’t the right one, even when they have great reviews. If you visit their office and the vibes feel off, trust your gut. Your dentist’s office should inspire confidence. You should be able to trust in their technology and their skills, and their staff should make you feel like you will be taken care of.
